Exhalation Device

Medclair’s patented Exhalation Device addresses the issue of residual levels of N2O in the patient's exhalation. Our innovative device ensures that exhaled gases containing N2O are properly managed and safely removed for subsequent destruction.

Exhalation Device

Our Exhalation Device is designed to work seamlessly with our MDU and CDU system, providing a comprehensive solution for safe and effective nitrous oxide handling. This technology not only ensures the safety of patients and healthcare professionals but also helps to minimize the environmental impact.

Our patented Exhalation Device features a specially designed valve that can be easily attached to a standard mask, providing patients with the ability to switch between nitrous oxide and ambient air without needing to remove their mask. This technology allows patients to safely and effectively manage residual N2O in their exhalation, preventing it from entering the treatment room and ensuring the safety of healthcare professionals and other patients.

Our Exhalation Device is not only effective but also silent in operation, providing patients with a comfortable and stress-free experience during medical procedures. This technology has a range of applications within the healthcare industry, particularly in the area of obstetrics where nitrous oxide is commonly used for pain management during labor and delivery.

Current industry standard

It is common for mothers to inhale nitrous oxide during labor and delivery, with an average consumption of 1-2 kg of nitrous oxide per normal labor. During the process, the mother breathes in N2O through a mask, and each exhale releases nitrous oxide from their lungs. To prevent the release of this gas into the environment and mitigate its harmful effects, the exhaled gas is collected and sent to a destruction unit.

Our Exhalation Device

Our Exhalation Device

During a typical labour, nitrous oxide mixed with oxygen is typically administered in intervals of 3-5 minutes, repeated many times over several hours. However, due to the difficulty patients face in managing the masks commonly used for administration, approximately 20-25% of the nitrous oxide is exhaled into the work environment. The need for patients to remove the mask to end the dosage of nitrous oxide contributes to this issue.

Our solution

The Medclair Exhalation Device provides a simple and safe way for patients to manage their nitrous oxide intake during labor. The valve on the device allows the patient to easily switch between nitrous oxide and ambient air, without needing to remove the mask.

This means that there is no need to worry about residual levels of N2O in the patient's exhalation, as the device ensures that any nitrous oxide is collected and sent to the destructor for destruction. The device is designed to be easy to use, with a button that controls the flow of N2O, and a light that indicates when nitrous oxide is being administered.
