Dental Clinic: Eastman Institute
Nitrous Oxide Destruction in Dental Care
In 2017, Folktandvården Stockholm became the first dental care provider globally to implement a nitrous oxide destruction system at the Eastman Institute. This system channels nitrous oxide from treatment rooms to a Central Destruction Unit that converts into harmless oxygen and nitrogen, achieving a destruction efficiency of 99.9%.
The destruction unit employs a catalytic process to decompose nitrous oxide into nitrogen and oxygen. This process requires a high temperature to effectively break down the nitrous oxide molecules, ensuring that the emissions released are environmentally benign.
Key Benefits
Environmental Impact:
Significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, aligning with global sustainability goals.
Contribution to a healthier planet through innovative healthcare solutions.
Occupational Safety:
Reduced exposure of dental staff to nitrous oxide, enhancing workplace safety.
Leadership in Sustainability:
By adopting this technology, the Eastman Institute demonstrates its commitment to sustainable healthcare practices, setting an example for other providers worldwide.
